Winter Weddings: Dos + Don’ts
Winter weddings have a unique allure and offer many advantages over the more traditional summer or fall weddings! In this blog post, we are going to share our insights on the dos and don'ts of a winter wedding.
DOS
Plan for Early Sunset
The creation of the timeline is something we spend a significant amount of time on for each of our couples. We always note the time of sunset for our couples, but for those getting married in the winter, we take extra care to craft the timeline around when the sun goes down.
Offer Warm Beverages
Hot cocoa, coffee or a mulled wine station is a great way to add extra warmth for your guests!
Prepare for Weather
Weather is always a consideration for our couple but during the winter months, weather delays are even more inevitable. It's important to have a plan for snow, ice or possible winter storms.
DON’TS
Forget to think about Footwear
Be sure you and your wedding party have appropriate footwear for both indoor and outdoor photos. Ice and heels are not the best combination!
Neglect Guests Comfort
Your wedding day isn't about your guests, but if guests are cold it will detract from the overall experience and vibe of your day. Plan to have heat sources or keep it all indoors!
Leave out the Warmth in the Design
Warming your design with drapery, candle light and creating the ambience can be even more important in the winter months. Be sure to think through what you want the overall feel of your event to be and how the time of year will impact your day!
While there are unique considerations to make when planning a winter wedding, the season offers so much for couples who are ready to take advantage of them!
