Weddings Looking Ahead Post-Pandemic
Let me start by saying, that as many trends come and go, the most memorable experience is going to be one that is specific and personal to you as a couple. As you read through some predictions that we are starting to see, as weddings continue to navigate through this pandemic, please remember that your wedding should captivate you and your significant other in the most authentic way that is true to you.
As couples are in the midst of wedding planning or starting the planning process, lots of thoughts and stresses are continuously running through our minds. As we look ahead post COVID (whenever that may be), we are seeing smaller micro-weddings and multi-celebrations more and more as our couples are starting to realize that the coronavirus isn’t going away as quickly as we had hoped. We believe that these trends are here to stay, and we are here for it! Here are some changes that the we think will stick around in a post-COVID world.
1. Weddings will be more intimate and guest lists will be smaller.
As we start to book for weddings in 2022, couples are favoring the idea of having a smaller guest count and allocating their invested dollars into other significant areas of their life. They don’t seem to feel obligated to invite their uncle’s best friend, their long lost relative their dad wants there, or any plus one’s.
2. Socially distant receptions aren’t going anywhere.
Vaccines and rapid testing is a bright light that we are happy to see. Health and safety of you and your guests are a top priority. Some couples are asking for testing to be conducted prior to the celebration to ensure guests are safe when attending their big day. Social distancing and masks will most likely stick around for awhile until the majority of guests and vendors have been vaccinated.
3. Weekday Weddings will become a thing.
Flexibility is a major adjustment that couples and vendors are starting to live with more and more. Venues are offering weekday weddings at a less expensive route which couples are starting to consider. Weekends are being booked up quickly with the pent-up demand of those weddings that have been postponed from 2020, current weddings taking place, and newly engaged couples looking to plan and book their venue. Considering a weekday? Make it your thing!!!
4. Backyard Weddings will up their game.
As some restrictions are still in place in certain states, couples are faced with the difficult decision to postpone, change plans, or hold off completely. Backyard weddings are becoming a popular option so that the couple, family, and the guests are able to celebrate in a comfortable setting. Hearing “backyard wedding” shouldn’t be a term that you’re afraid of because you CAN make it a beautiful event. A wedding planner can help elevate your space and bring your vision to life. It may not be your plan A, but plan B can be just as incredible.
5. Plated and individualized meals to make guests comfortable.
Keeping your guests comfortable is something that should always be considered, especially in our world right now. Offering plated meals may be a little bit more per person, but it goes a long way when considering the health and safety of your guests during COVID.
As if planning a wedding isn’t stressful enough, the days of worrying about anything but washing our hands seem to be far from visible. Regardless of how long we’ll be fighting the coronavirus, this pandemic has left its mark on the wedding industry and we’ll be living through it for years to come.
