Involving your Pet on your Wedding Day: Tips & Tricks
One of the questions we ask every one of our couples is if they have a furry friend they would like to incorporate into their wedding day. Our pets are often part of our families and so it's only natural that they would be a part of the couple's big day!
Ways to Involve your Pet on your Wedding Day
Flower Goats (or dogs!)
One of our favorite ways to involve pets on the wedding day is having them make a quick appearance down the aisle. Dressing them appropriately is also so fun!
One of our couples, K & B had their goats as “flower girls” and even dressed them in pretty pink dresses!
Feature them on Signage/Name signature drinks after them
We also love creating custom signage for our couples with a sketch of their pet! Here we created a signature cocktail named after Teddy and then featured it at the bar during the couples event.
Simply Include them in Photos
Even if your pet doesn't (or can't) make it down the aisle, they can easily be featured in photos to look back on for a lifetime!
Things to Consider when Involving a Furry Friend
When considering involving your pet on your wedding day, be sure to think through these things:
Temperament
What is the temperament of your pet? Do they do well in crowds or do they get overwhelmed? If they don't do well around groups of people, consider naming a cocktail after them and featuring them on signage or just bring them in for photos with you and your new spouse.
A Caregiver
If you do decide your pet should be at your wedding for any amount of time, be sure you have someone who will take care of your pet so you don’t have to worry and can focus on enjoying your day and focus on your new spouse and guests.
Communicate with your Coordinator & Photographer
Be sure that you communicate exactly how you wish to involve your pets to your vendors, so your photographer (& coordinator) make sure you get the photos you want with them!
